Hannelore Hoger reads from Sybille Berg's anthology "I thought it was love - farewell letters from women".
What to do when it's over? One of the timeless rituals of breaking away from the beloved is the farewell letter - as old as love itself. Sibylle Berg has collected such letters, from celebrities such as Anne Boleyn, Marlene Dietrich, Corinne Hofmann and Else Buschheuer as well as from ordinary women:
Letters of abandonment and desertion, of grief and anger, weakness and powerlessness, hatred and sarcasm, but also of warmth and tenderness, generosity and gratitude. In her own blunt way, Berg comments on the many ways of saying goodbye and reflects on the impositions of togetherness.
Congenially read by Hannelore Hoger.
