Hanse Guitar Festival | “Flamenco meets Latin” mit Emma Campàs, Rodrigo Guzmán & Duo Bandini-Chiacchiaretta
In the organizer's words:
The spectacular finale of Hamburg’s Guitar Festival is traditionally dedicated to flamenco and South American music. The lineup includes the gifted flamenco guitarist Emma Campàs, Rodrigo Guzmán, and the tango duo Bandini-Chiacchiaretta.
Emma Campàs ( 23) was born in Balaguer, Spain. In 2019, she graduated from a music high school in Barcelona and received the honorary award. At the age of 17, she began her bachelor’s degree at the Liceu University of Music, receiving a scholarship from the Ferrer Salat Foundation, and graduated with the “Special Prize for Interpretation in Classical and Contemporary Music.” Thanks to a scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in classical guitar at the Robert Schumann University of Music (Düsseldorf).
She has performed at various venues, including the Auditorium of Barcelona, the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, the Wizink Center (Madrid), the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Plenary Hall of the Parliament of Catalonia, and the House of Knights in Helsinki.
At international festivals, she has won first prizes at the “Jüchen International Youth Guitar Competition” (2021), the “Sona a Guitarra International Competition for Young Guitarists” (2016), and the IV Vilaseca Guitar Competition (2023); second prizes at the “Ciudad de Mula International Guitar Competition” (2022) and the 13th “Sant Anastasi” Instrumental Competition (2013); and third prizes at the “José Tomás Villa de Petrer” Youth Competition (2023) and the II “Ángel Iglesias” International Guitar Festival (Jarandilla de la Vera, 2013).
Rodrigo Guzmán | Rodrigo Guzmán took his first steps in music with his family in Chile, where traditional music plays a significant role.
At the academy, he studied with Ana María Reyes at the “Universidad de Concepción” and with Luis Orlandini at the “Universidad de Chile,” where he graduated with the highest possible distinction as an “Intérprete en Guitarra.” Later, as a DAAD scholarship recipient, he earned his concert exam diploma under Professor Thomas Müller-Pering at the “Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt” in Weimar.
With the “Chilean Guitar Quartet,” he performed in numerous concerts throughout Latin America and Europe, premiering works by contemporary Chilean composers. Two CDs were released during his time with this ensemble. The first features original and arranged chamber music, and the second includes works by the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo in collaboration with the “Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile.”
In his multifaceted career as a musician, he performs in solo and chamber music concerts, in theater music, and on recordings of works by contemporary composers.
Now based in Germany, he is dedicated to adapting and creating a repertoire for guitar drawn from the folklore and popular music of Latin America. This has resulted in new works for solo guitar, guitar duos, and guitar quartets, as well as chamber music for various instruments and for guitar soloist with orchestra.
The Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo, featuring guitar (Giampaolo Bandini) and bandoneon (Cesare Chiacchiaretta), was founded in 2002 and has since pursued the goal of introducing the world to Argentine music through the charm and magic of its most characteristic instruments. The duo immediately established itself on the international scene thanks to its expressiveness, combined with extraordinary charisma.
Invitations to perform at the world’s most important festivals and concert halls have taken the musicians to more than 40 countries. They also had the privilege of perform Astor Piazzolla’s double concerto “Hommage a Liegi” under the direction of Leo Brouwer at the Auditorium Paganini in Parma, as well as—together with the renowned Moscow Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Pavel Berman—for the Unione Musicale in Turin.
In 2004, the Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo was awarded the 15th “Beniamino Joppolo” Città di Patti (Messina, Italy) Prize for exceptional artistic achievement in the field of music. Their first CD, *Hombres de Tango*, has sold more than 10,000 copies. As teachers, both are in high demand at the most prestigious conservatories and universities, such as the Luigi Boccherini Conservatory in Lucca and the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma.
