After an unpleasant vacation at the Dursley estate, the stress continues unabated for Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) at the Academy of Magic. It turns out that the criminal Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), who was involved in the death of Harry's parents, has escaped from the supposedly escape-proof prison of Azkaban and now intends to pay a private house call to the junior. Time for Harry and his friends to come up with something...
In the third installment of the successful fairy tale franchise, Mexican Alfonso Cuaron ("Y tu mama tambien," "A Little Princess") takes over the directing reins from Chris Columbus. Gary Oldman makes his series debut in the usual seamless villain twist, and Julie Andrews drops in for a guest appearance.
Harry had to spend the vacations at the terrible Dursleys again in his third year at the wizarding school. After an accidental magical accident, he seeks refuge and hides out in the Leaky Cauldron Hotel until the school year begins. Here he learns that the criminal Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban Witch Prison and is now after him. Harry and his friends find out that Black was involved in the death of Harry's parents.
During the vacations with the Dursleys, Harry is humiliated and set back as usual - until his collar bursts and he unceremoniously casts a spell on Aunt Marge. Because of this aberration, he has to flee and seeks shelter in the Wizard Hotel. But he finds neither safety nor peace there, nor at the Hogwarts School of Magic, because Sirius Black, the murderer who escaped from Azkaban prison, is apparently looking for him. But what does Sirius, who is allegedly involved in the death of Harry's parents, really want from Harry?
