Young Carla (Paula Kalenberg) has barely left home to study fashion in Lyon when everything is stolen from her at the train station. Penniless, she signs on with Rico (Vinzenz Kiefer) to work on his ship. Lucie (Marie-Luise Schramm) lives there and she finds a friend in her. When Carla is horrified to discover that she has been pregnant for some time, she makes an agreement: she will have the child in Lucie's name in order to be free.
The boldly arranged deal of an expectant mother is thwarted by her flaring love for the child and triggers dangerous escalations. Two life plans clash in this emotional and true-to-life drama about the disorientation of youth.
Carla is robbed of money, papers and suitcases on her way to fashion school in Lyon. She drifts through Berlin and meets Rico, who lets her spend the night at his place. She becomes pregnant. After Rico gives her the cold shoulder, she confides in Lucie, who makes her an unusual proposition: Lucie will pretend to be pregnant and take care of the baby later, while Carla can go away.
