This time the Jazzraum brings the HEDWIG JANKO TRIO to the Hafenbahnhof.

Leipzig-born saxophonist and composer Hedwig Janko explores new sound colors in the context of old and new jazz repertoire as well as her own compositions. Together with Melanie Streitmatter and Leo Kröger, Hedwig's first musical companions since moving to Hamburg, they rethink jazz standards, reconstruct pieces of world music and develop the saxophonist's own compositions.
The trio's varied arrangements build bridges between musical traditions and free improvisations that arise in the moment, exploring the variability between sound density and transparency provided by the instrumentation.
This is the artistic unity of three newcomers to jazz who do not shy away from treading new ground and returning to connections already made.
