Alto saxophonist Jakob Manz and pianist Johanna Summer are regarded as the dream duo of young German jazz. Yet they are quite different musically: while he has a soft spot for pop music and plays contemporary jazz-rock with his Jakob Manz Project, she creates new worlds of sound through free improvisation from piano works ranging from Bach to Ligeti, either solo or in duo with Igor Levit. Together, however, Manz and Summer create their very own musical universe, especially in their own compositions, which they "tailor to each other", by searching together, listening to each other and reacting to each other, whereby they manage to surprise each other time and again.
