For many years in a row, Julia Hagen performed at the Heidelberger Frühling Music Festival as a lively and inspired chamber musician alongside colleagues such as Igor Levit. Now she, who has long been one of the outstanding soloists of the younger generation, returns with a highly attractive duo program. Together with her pianist Annika Treutler, she has released a highly acclaimed recording of Johannes Brahms' cello sonatas. In this attractive program, Classical and Romanticism stand opposite each other like two opposing expressive attitudes, but both great sonatas - those by Beethoven and Brahms - are decisive pioneers for the triumphant advance of the cello as a solo instrument.
