In the organizer's words:

"Bring me a Dream" is the name of the cheerful, thoughtful and visionary program by the award-winning women's choir 4x4 from the Heidelberg University of Education. This is followed by a performative reading of texts by leading intellectual figures in the USA, from Thomas Jefferson to Langston Hughes and the present day. Together with improvisation artist Matthew Barley, the festival campus ensemble will prepare its own version of "In C", the pioneering masterpiece of minimal music in which composer Terry Riley created a fascinating and intuitively comprehensible musical model of democratic co-determination in 1964.

The event is part of the USA Day, with which the Heidelberger Frühling, together with the German-American Institute Heidelberg, which will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2026, is taking a reflective look at the United States - on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. Under the title "The Other 50%", words and sounds complement each other in an exciting reflection on the ideals and realities of a country whose politics and culture have always been an indispensable landmark since 1945, especially when viewed from Germany.
