Helicon Festival – an evening of instrumental, electronica, and post-rock

In 2023, theHelicon Festivallaunched as a two-day festival in Oldenburg—featuring a lineup spanning post-rock, instrumental rock, electronica, and ambient. Now, Helicon is leaving its home base for the time being and touring northern Germany asan “exile” festival: rotating venues, more compact evenings, select acts from the original festival program, and special guests.

The musical core remains unchanged: unconventional sounds, sustained tension, and music that transcends clear genre boundaries. The lineup includes the atmospheric “SamplEmotionalStep” byBillion One, which blends analog sounds, field recordings, and live visuals; the richly detailed, narrative progressive rock ofCMDR RIKR; and the instrumental post-rock ofShamotte, which weaves rock and electronica into dense soundscapes.

OnOctober 24,three years later, the Helicon Festival finally returns to where it all began: theCadillac Oldenburg. For one evening, the festival’s birthplace will once again become a gathering place for everyone who’s in the mood for intense live music, surprising soundscapes, and concerts that aren’t just something you passively consume. Those who embrace the experience will encounter three extraordinary bands and a festival that, even in exile, has lost none of its vision—but perhaps embodies it even more consistently.
