The future is uncertain, they say. Some philosophers claim that the future is none of our business. The future is not happening, say a number of dystopias. Four documentaries look into the world of tomorrow. They may not reveal what will be, but they explore what is already possible today and what will play a role in the future. For example, they shed light on the comprehensive surveillance of all data by global software companies that operate beyond state regulation. They follow our approach to death and the attempts to overcome its irreversibility with AI-controlled programs. They follow the emotional bonds between humans and robots and examine the significance of gender in the future.
