Free workshop in cooperation with the independent Hip-Hop Institute Heidelberg.

In this workshop you will get a practical introduction to the world of beatmaking - with a focus on hip-hop, lofi and boom bap. You will learn how sampling works, how to build drum loops and how to produce your own beats intuitively with the Koala app - without any previous musical knowledge. Using well-known sound examples, you will learn how different styles of music - from soul to funk to jazz - have been creatively reused in sampling. Together we will analyze sound sources, talk about aesthetics and develop our own little song sketches. The aim is for you to go home at the end with your first loop - and with the knowledge of how you can continue at home. The workshop is aimed at teenagers and young adults aged between 13 and 20, there are 9 free places available. The workshop will be led by Wilczynski - beatmaker, social worker and vinyl enthusiast with over ten years of experience and worldwide releases.
