In this intensive course, under the guidance of master ceramist Friedrun Fritzsche, you will explore the art of cylinder shapes, the vertical dimension, on the wheel.Step by step, you will develop the necessary technique to guide the clay upwards in a controlled and even manner - starting with classic cups and ending with tall, cylindrical vase shapes.
Instead of speed, this course focuses on precision in order to improve your skills on the wheel. Time is deliberately taken to discuss the results with regard to the turning technique and the shapes. This allows you to learn directly from practice and refine your sense of craftsmanship. In addition to turning, we are also happy to discuss an individual surface design to give your objects a personal touch and make them an eye-catcher in your home.
An essential part of the learning process and your ceramic development is conscious selection: Up to two of your pieces will be selected for firing each day of the course. This limitation, which may seem restrictive at first, helps you to focus on quality rather than quantity and allows you to sharpen your eye for detail and subtlety.
Prerequisite: You should already have experience with the turntable. A secure centering of 400g clay would be desirable so that you can concentrate fully on shaping and playing with height.
