Hofkino - Sabbath Queen

"Sabbath Queen" follows the life of Rabbi Amichai over a period of 21 years. He is the heir to a rabbinical family stretching back 39 generations, including several Chief Rabbis of Israel. Torn between tradition and rebellion, he becomes a drag queen, a queer father, and founds Lab/Shul in New York, an inclusive, interfaith community.

“Sabbath Queen” chronicles his journey in search of a reimagining of religion and rituals that challenges patriarchy, celebrates interfaith love, and advocates for peace, a ceasefire, and an end to the occupation. A provocative, loving, and unique documentary about faith, identity, and Jewish survival in the ever-changing 21st century.
