Hopscotch
In the organizer's words:
Hopscotchis the name of a quintet that plays jazz with an abstract and open sound. And Hopscotch is also the name of a suite composed by Clémence Manachère that interprets Daniel Libeskind’s series of drawings, *ChamberWorks*. In Libeskind’s ChamberWorks, Clémence discovered the phenomenon of a synthesis between architectural drawings and contemporary musical notation—precise and chaotic at the same time. Consequently, the structural logic of the suite *Hopscotch* is a back-and-forth between flowing melodic lines, abstract cycles of repetition, and textures that come together and reverse, thus creating an alternation between figuration and abstraction. The structure of *Chamberworks* also describes our world: interconnected layers in which phases of conflict alternate with moments of harmonic epiphany. Within these structures, the theme of symmetry and asymmetry serves as the central thread of the composition. One set of percussion is reflected in another; the guitar blends with the cello, and the flute finds its continuation in the soprano saxophone.
