Die Eitelkeit & Joe Astray | TREFFEN Festival
In the organizer's words:
La Pochette Surprise Records presents as part of the Treffen Festival Hamburg:
“Flowers Along the Way—Mutilated with a Saw”: Oscar and Vanity are now a band. With Martin (Swutscher), Christian (Dunya), Obi, and Julian, early Romantic poetry meets expressionist mutilation. Country and folk shatter against monotonous Krautrock riffs, synthesizers, and feedback noise, while bossa nova and sloppy booze stumble through the rubble. Amid flowers, sunshine, and alienated labor, NoCountry emerges!
Offbeat, peculiar, outlandish: Joe Astray makes music for the landless and the dispossessed. His socially critical lyrics meet unpredictable indie compositions with clear punk-rock DNA. Somewhere between The Eels, Leonard Cohen, and Billy Bragg, the former fluppe singer combines a DIY spirit with biting humor and an unmistakable voice. Dark, idiosyncratic, and yet full of hope.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. | Show starts at 8:00 p.m. | Advance tickets: €16.75 | B.O.: €20
