by Jonas Jonasson
There are hardly any events of the 20th century in which the main character of this picaresque novel was not involved in some way. Leonhard Koppelmann has set Jonasson's Swedish bestseller to music with numerous original historical sounds. The hr-Bigband provides the appropriate tempo for this road trip. Great cinema for the ears.
That's how it is when you turn 100: the mayor drops by, the local press takes a few photos of the wobbly jubilarian in front of a bouquet of flowers and then it's on to the next appointment. A performance that also gives centenarian Allan Karlsson the creeps. Besides, it's boring in the old people's home and the food doesn't taste good either. To escape all this, Allan opens the window and swings himself over the parapet. An absurd, fast-paced journey begins. Along the way, it also tells the crazy life story of a strange man who has never been interested in politics all his life, but has nevertheless been repeatedly involved in major historical events of the last century.
