How does the legacy of postwar German jazz sound from today’s perspective? The Vincent Meissner Trio explores this question with a concert that offers a fresh take on the work of the great jazz pianist Joachim Kühn.

Leipzig-based pianist Vincent Meissner is one of the most exciting voices on the young German jazz scene. He first drew attention with his debut album *Bewegtes Feld*; the albums *Wille* and *Eigengrau* cemented his reputation as an exceptionally original musician. Numerous awards—including the Concert Prize at the Jazzopen Stuttgart, the German Jazz Union’s Sponsorship Award, and the Central German Jazz Prize—mark his career.

Together with Josef Zeimetz (bass) and Henri Reichmann (drums), Meissner approaches Joachim Kühn’s work not as a tribute in the classical sense, but as a living musical dialogue. His compositions are taken up, developed further, and reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective.

The concert thus builds a bridge between the pioneers of German jazz from the 1950s to the 1970s and a new generation of musicians who are not merely preserving this music but actively developing it further. The concert demonstrates that jazz knows how to reinvent itself across generations without forgetting its origins.
