"'Kalthoum' is a tribute to women who have changed the course of history and whose art still has an impact on our lives today," says Lebanese-French jazz trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf about his album, which he has dedicated to the great Egyptian singing diva Umm Kulthum. The "Maria Callas of the Orient" is still unforgotten in the Arab world fifty years after her death. "Kulthum is the voice I have listened to the most since my early childhood," recalls Maalouf.
