Ich hab schrecklich schlechte Laune

These days, there’s not much to laugh about. The future seems uncertain, political, social, and economic conditions are in flux, and society appears divided. No wonder that a bad mood has long since become more than just a fleeting feeling: it has become a constant companion in everyday life.

The exhibition “I’m in a Terrible Mood” is dedicated to precisely this state—somewhere between frustration, feeling overwhelmed, inner tension, and quiet exhaustion. A bad mood has no single face. Sometimes it manifests itself loudly and angrily; other times, quietly, heavily, and almost intangibly. It defies simple explanations—and that is precisely where its potential lies.

The works on display approach negative emotions from various perspectives: personal, social, uncomfortable, contradictory, and at times surprisingly humorous. Without claiming to provide solutions or smooth over feelings, the participating artists bring to light what is often repressed, glossed over, cynically downplayed, or even whitewashed.

Featuring works by Katharina Bodenmüller, Lidia B. Gordon, Bettina Guckler, Mark Hellmann, Karn Karnjanamai, Thomas Klingberg, Gabriele Konczak, Claudia Oelschläger, Angelika Richter, bensch, and Angela Schmitz.
