Frank has invited everyone to the annual garden party, and everyone will be there. After all, Frank is the department head. Of course, you have to show up at his summer party. There’s also something to celebrate. The department has just come through the performance review—with one exception, though: Their colleague Christopher was fired and is no longer part of the team. This makes it all the more uncomfortable for his former coworkers that Frank has invited him to the summer party anyway. Now, every time the doorbell rings, alarm bells go off. Is that Christopher? Is he really coming? The new grill needs to be fired up anyway, and the hostess’s cocktails are tasting better and better. And so the party atmosphere keeps building, and the group dynamics follow their very own collegial rules. The family’s son, Jannik—who’s just shy of twenty—keeps pouring fuel on the fire of the “normopaths,” as he calls the adults around him. Jannik accuses his parents of being spoiled by their wealth; they accuse him of being aimless. But where is he supposed to turn in these times of neoliberalism? Who sets an example for him that there are goals beyond the happiness of home ownership—goals greater than personal well-being? A veritable generational conflict is simmering beneath the surface and is finally ready to erupt. 

The multi-award-winning Oliver Bukowski has crafted a spot-on comedy about the middle class, in which the emptiness of a purely consumerist society leads to overstimulation, and the pressure to constantly improve oneself leads straight into depression. And who shredded Bryan Adams’ album—and, more importantly, why? This mystery will surely be solved at the company party!
