At this year's edition 'Im Aufschwung XIII' the new program 'John's-BJB-Bach' celebrates its official Hamburg premiere. In this piece, the eight young dancers of the company present the result of an intensive examination of creations by their artistic director John Neumeier to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. In 'John's-BJB-Bach', excerpts from the well-known ballets 'The St. Matthew Passion', 'Magnificat', 'Bach Suite 2' and 'Bach Suite 3' are presented. The music will be interpreted live by a small ensemble of young musicians, the arrangements have been specially arranged by the musical director of the Bundesjugendballett, Marshall McDaniel. Under the artistic direction of Kevin Haigen, the individual excerpts from the various ballets will be combined and staged as a modern mosaic.
The second part of the evening is composed of a diverse program of repertoire pieces and new creations. The focus is on choreographies, some of which were created by the dancers themselves. At 'Im Aufschwung XIII' they have the opportunity to present their own creativity on the big stage.
