In the organizer's words:
Coca, opium poppies, mushrooms, and tobacco: Objects in the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art tell the story of how these and other substances were—and continue to be—used for medicinal or ritual purposes, or simply for pleasure. Through pipes, enemas, paintings, photographs, videos, and drug containers, the guided tour explores the various cultural meanings of intoxication and drug use. The tour addresses economic aspects, debates on legalization, addiction prevention, as well as the “War on Drugs” and its connections to colonialism and racism.
