With his images of former coal and steel industrial sites, photographer Andreas Haars explores how we deal with our industrial heritage in the conflicting areas of demolition and preservation. While he calls for a discussion about the "right" way to deal with them, he also takes a stand for their at least partial preservation.
In doing so, he makes a point of letting the industrial heritage sites speak for themselves and deliberately refrains from depicting people. The choice of a natural perspective and a natural point of view invites the viewer to immerse themselves intensively in the images.
