Infamis

Infamis played their first official concert in 1988 at the Galiläakirche together with the “Wartburgs für Walter.” The band was founded in 1987 by René Schwettge, who was born in Berlin-Friedrichshain; its formation was also inspired by the legendary Element Of Crime concert at the Zionskirche, which was stormed by neo-Nazi skinheads at the time.- Their musical style—a blend of indie blues-country, Americana, and spaghetti western influences—already stood in stark contrast to the majority of punk bands in East Berlin and the GDR, yet it was no less subversive. - Wim Wenders became a fan of the band, albeit belatedly and through a roundabout route, but ultimately it’s the result that counts: in 2013, he released the Infamis album *Im Westen der Himmel* on his label “Wenders Music.” - Music journalist Christine Heise wrote about Infamis at the time: “These urban cowboys blaze their trails through Brandenburg in the style of Italo-Westerns—through moors and floodplains bordered by pastures—unfolding mysterious depths where others see only open spaces...” - We are very pleased that Infamis will be making their way through moors and floodplains to play a concert at the Galiläakirche again after nearly 40 years. The occasion is the first release of their album project “Wiedergang” in late summer, which will feature 23 new recordings of old Infamis songs. These are planned to be released in no particular order and in limited editions, culminating in a “Best Of” album.
