How does the saying go? Better to inherit 30 minutes than to work 30 years.Inka Meyer, too, has inherited quite a bit from her grandmother: in addition to sparkling eyes and a sparkling wit, unfortunately also an immune system that tends to be a pacifist when it comes to fighting off illnesses. For half her life now, the cabaret artist has been zipping through the healthcare system like a comet: hitchhiking her way through doctors’ offices.

That’s just how it is: Our fate is often written in our genes. If you don’t have children, your children won’t have children either. What can you do? Life springs from a single cell and sometimes ends in one as well. Is it even possible to escape one’s own family tree? Yes! “Because anyone who doesn’t believe in miracles isn’t a realist,” is Meyer’s resolute credo!

And so, this sea-foam-born woman, baptized in North Sea water, embarks on an adventurous expedition to trace her family’s roots, which, in addition to Friesland, feature an exciting array of migration stories. With Udo Jürgens’ hit song “Ich war noch niemals in Stettin” on her lips, she travels—eager to learn—to Poland for the first time in her life—more precisely, to the former German region of Pomerania. In the small village of Jasenitz, a chaotic search for her great-grandparents’ house begins, during which a translation app becomes indispensable for communication: Inka Meyer is an attraction for the villagers—and the locals are an attraction for Inka Meyer.

What exactly she finds at the end of her journey through former Pomerania will, of course, not be revealed in advance. Just this much: Her cabaret show is like a surgical procedure, an “Inkavention,” that will improve the physical and mental well-being of all viewers. Because if you want to be healthy, you have to laugh! And at the top of her humorous first-aid kit is this: “If you don’t have anything to laugh about yourselves, then laugh at me!” But be warned: This person is highly contagious! So: The May beetle is flying—but please, into the cabaret!
