Jessica Parks is a successful criminal court judge. She mainly deals with sexual offenses; men who have raped women and whose defense lawyers exploit legal gray areas to protect the perpetrators regularly sit before her. Jessica knows the tricks, she listens and judges harshly. But her career exists "inter alia" - among other things. Because Jessica is also a friend, wife and mother. She juggles her job between visits to karaoke bars, her relationship with her husband Michael and ironing the shirts of her 18-year-old son Harry, for whom she is relentless in her efforts to raise him as a feminist. But one night throws her life off course: Harry is involved in a criminal incident and suddenly Jessica finds herself in an irresolvable dilemma. How can she reconcile her maternal care with her integrity as an otherwise resolute judge?
Following her successful play "Prima facie", playwright and former lawyer Suzie Miller once again tackles the structural problems of our patriarchal legal system in "Inter Alia". A gripping play that relentlessly confronts us with questions of our present day, which we regularly deal with in view of the still inadequate legal situation regarding sexual violence.
