A tour through the history of jazz.
From the beginnings in New Orleans and in the illegal bars in Chicago and New York, to the nights in the jazz cellars of Düsseldorf's old town.
In literary excerpts and amusing anecdotes, we meet Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Jo Jones, John Coltrane, John Clellon Holmes, Fats Domino, Miles Davis, Klaus Doldinger and many more.
The author Jens Prüss will present and moderate the event.
He will introduce us to one of the most dazzling and best bebop drummers: Roy Haynes. Colleagues called him "The Royal of Haynes" in awe of his elegant playing. He performed with the greats of jazz well into old age.
The jazz stories will be musically accompanied by guitarist Philipp van Endert. Drummer Peter Weiß will appear as an additional commentator.
