Jazz Open 2026: Rasha Nahas

Rasha Nahas is a versatile Palestinian artist who combines songwriting, performance and storytelling in a unique way. Her albums Desert (2021) and Amrat (2023) combine Arabic, traditional and modern influences, reflecting personal experiences and cultural themes. With international tours, contributions to film and theater as well as appearances in series such as We Are Lady Parts, she is one of the outstanding voices of the current music scene and was awarded the Bertha Foundation Artivism Award.

Between moving boxes and fairy lights, Elaj from Heidelberg writes songs in her 13sqm shared room. From a duo project, a band has now formed around songwriter Elaj, who gets the stage and all the hips in the room shaking. At the forefront of Elaj's music is a duet of guitar melodies and vocals that winds its way around prickly questions of queer identity and hearts in all states of aggregation. Dynamic live sets unleash the band's warm and rhythmic sound: bouncy, full of guitars and emotionally charged.
