Since its foundation in 2010, the Berlin-based Melt Trio has developed into one of the world's most innovative guitar trios in contemporary jazz. With their progressive and unique sound, they inspire experts, music lovers and concertgoers at jazz festivals and club concerts around the globe. After the critically acclaimed albums "Melt", "Hymnolia" and "Stroy", the last album "Consumer" was awarded the German Jazz Award for Best Instrumental Album of the Year. The new album will be released in spring 2026 on the young Berlin label "FunInTheChurch".
On the current album and in more than 200 concerts together, the three Berliners have further refined their special style and show an even stronger creative will in details. Their combination of acoustic and electronic sounds is stronger than ever, concrete influences from jazz and classical modernism to post- and prog-rock are at best vaguely discernible, because the music simply sounds like Melt Trio. It is and remains a guitar trio that can do without any comparison. "Melt is neither Nirvana in jazz, nor Bill Frisell Trio in rock, nor Massacre in ambient. Melt is Melt, unique, individual, gripping and moving."

The Melt Trio has been featured by Arte Concerts, Arte Tracks, FAZ, DownBeat, taz, RONDO, Jazzpodium, Jazzthetik and Jazzthing, among others, and has also been nominated three times for the Echojazz.

In addition to concerts at some of the most renowned festivals for contemporary jazz, collaborations with musicians from the classical music and electro scene (Ensemble Modern, Jan Bang, Gebrüder Teichmann,...) have increasingly ensured that the Berlin band has become known far beyond the circle of jazz listeners.

Bernhard Meyer has been teaching as a professor for electric bass at the Mannheim University of Music since 2020.
