Yumi Ito

Boundless worlds: Yumi Ito is a virtuoso singer with an impressive vocal range. After starting out in classical singing and piano, she found the freedom of improvisation in jazz - and her central means of expression in song form. Her pieces are artfully constructed, but never smooth, but with rough edges. Already celebrated at Jazzfest Bonn 2025 as a vocalist in the Sarah Chaksad Large Ensemble, Ito is now returning with her own band and presenting her album Distant Voices, expected in spring 2026. An exclusive pre-release show and a charismatic artist who inspires with her presence and energy.

Donny McCaslin

Donny McCaslin is an intrepid crossover artist with a deep understanding of the roots and future of jazz. He became known for his central role on David Bowie's last album Blackstar, but also for his work with Maria Schneider and Elvis Costello. In Bonn, he presents his new work Lullaby for the Lost: powerful, raw, somewhere between jazz and art rock. Drawing on influences such as Neil Young and Nine Inch Nails, McCaslin creates music of emotional depth and melodic clarity. His band - with Tim Lefebvre, whom Jazzfest Bonn audiences know from the Michael Wollny Trio - combines raw intensity with fine soundscapes. McCaslin's saxophone sounds like a voice: passionate, angry, wildly beautiful.
