Jazz Week Berlin enters its eighth round from June 20 to 26, 2026!
Under the motto "collective improv(e)ment", it brings together artistic practice, social dynamics and cultural-political issues.
The focus is on Collective Improv: improvisation as a shared process of listening, reacting and creating. At the same time, Collective Movement describes the growing importance of collectives, networks and collaborative structures that enable new forms of working and coming together. Last but not least, Collective Improvement sees itself as a call to further develop the working and living conditions of jazz musicians together - with a view to fair pay, sustainable promotion and structural participation.
All of this can also be experienced on stage: numerous participating clubs and venues present concerts throughout Berlin during the week and bring the diversity of the current jazz scene to life. Jazzwoche Berlin #8 invites you to think of jazz as a collective process - open, solidary and future-oriented.

OPENING

Jazzwoche Berlin #8 will be officially opened on Friday, June 19. In addition to a variety of musical acts and discursive elements, there will also be an opportunity for exchange between those involved in the scene, politics and administration and the audience.

MUSIC

Jazz and improvised music can be heard in all neighborhoods 365 days a year in a wide variety of venues.

Internationally, Berlin is still considered one of the most interesting cities for jazz and improvised music musicians. Here, genre boundaries lose their meaning, the genre continues to develop and there is an impressive range of musical directions, because from mainstream to avant-garde, the capital offers a diversity rarely found in this form. During Jazz Week Berlin, we highlight this for a week and show how much fun it is to explore this diverse scene. The clubs and organizers in Berlin will curate the week themselves. Like a large, independent curatorial collective in the jazz city of Berlin, they will be presenting their unique program in a wide variety of venues and in a wide variety of facets during this week. Jazz Week Berlin #7 featured a total of around 90 concerts at 45 venues.

DISCOURSE
On Saturday, 20.6. and Sunday, 21.6. a diverse discourse program will take place in the yellow villa in Kreuzberg.

CLOSING EVENT
Fri June 26, 2026

With a keynote speech, music and the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and look back on the last few days, we will end this year's Jazzwoche Berlin together with a closing event.
