THE DARK ROOMS VEINS

For just 3 weekends, an old movie theater complex dreams up a new intense art experience.

The memory of an old movie theater often doesn't start with scenes from films. But with smells and that very specific gut feeling when heavy doors were pushed open as a child. Inside - the air is warm and a little dusty. A mixture of popcorn, old carpet and that indefinable smell of projector heat. It smelled like stories, even if you wouldn't have called it that back then, of course - that's what movies smell like.

You sat there on these great seats with cushions that were a little too soft, your knees perhaps a little too close to the front seat, and waited.

This waiting was a feeling of its own...

...and then the lights slowly went down.

You sat there feeling small and incredibly awake at the same time. This memory is not just a memory. It is physical. Everyone knows it. And yet hardly anyone has ever seen a large part of this movie theater building.

There is still a world behind the movie theaters.

Behind it begins something like a second architecture.

Hidden transportation corridors. A labyrinth of tunnels and dark chambers. A whole system of corridors connecting the auditoriums.

The cinema was never just a place for movies. It was always a building with an interior. Like a huge concrete anthill. And this is exactly where the exhibition THE DARK ROOMS VEINS begins - in the hidden layers of the cinema.

In this darkness, 10 international light and sound artists build their installations.

An old movie theater is always a promise that anything is possible for a few hours. That the world gets bigger as soon as the lights go out. And that somewhere in this building there is still a bit of magic waiting.

As always, the exact location will remain a secret and ticket buyers will only be informed 48 hours before their visit.
