Der Berliner Impresario „Assi“ Glöde hat den Gitarristen Joe Sachse schon öfter mit Schlagzeugern spielen lassen. So mit Baby Sommer und zuletzt mit John Marshall (Soft Machine), mit dem Sachse viele Jahre arbeitete. Mit „Luten“ Petrowsky, der unter freiem Spiel „das verfügen über alle Möglichkeiten“ verstand, spielte Sachse lange Jahre im Trio mit Klaus Koch. So versteht er auch neue Duo mit Joe Hertenstein: „Freies Spiel als Grundlage, aber auch rhythmische Strecken mit Standards oder Lieder usw . Mit David Moss , Paul Lovens , Wolfram Dix, Ernst Bier, Baby Sommer und auch mit John Marshall hat das wunderbar funktioniert." Die Begegnung mit Joe Hertenstein ist Fortsetzung dieses Konzepts.
