JEFFREY LEWIS & The Voltage

The career of Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage began when songwriter and comic artist Jeffrey Lewis started recording homemade cassettes in New York City in 1998. His critically acclaimed, unusual and eloquent songs led to Jeffrey being signed to Rough Trade Records (the record label of The Smiths, The Strokes etc.) in 2001, and the project became a worldwide cult sensation. Alongside Adam Green and the Moldy Peaches, Jeffrey Lewis was one of the central figures of the so-called anti-folk scene in New York.

His band, which creates a brilliant style of urban indie rock folk that sounds like a 21st century mix of Sonic Youth, Pete Seeger and R. Crumb, has played countless gigs around the world, including opening for icons such as the Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Stephen Malkmus, Pulp and Roky Erickson.
