From March 4 to April 11, 2026, "Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver" will finally embark on their great adventure journey with the steam locomotive Emma at the Düsseldorf Marionette Theater.

The intergenerational children's book classic by Michael Ende comes to life on the marionette stage in a humorous, richly illustrated production: with fantastic characters such as dragons, half-dragons and the illusory giant Mr. Tur Tur. Whether smoking volcanoes, an underground river or the wondrous land of Mandala - almost anything is possible on the Marionette Theater's illusion stage!

Here, adults can look forward to a nostalgic reunion with their childhood heroes, and little adventurers aged 8 and over will be enthralled by the incredible story of friendship, courage and the magic of travel.

About the content:
One day, the letter carrier brings a parcel to Lummerland with a baby: Jim Button. Little Jim grows up and soon there is not enough room on the small island.
When King Alfonso the Fourth Before Twelfth decides that Luke should get rid of his fat locomotive Emma, the friends Jim and Luke leave home with Emma.
Their long and dangerous adventure journey takes them across the sea to Mandala and even to the dragon city of Kummerland. They make the acquaintance of illusory giants, half-dragons and rescue Princess Li Si from the hands of the dragon Frau Mahlzahn ...

Attention Jim Button fans! There will be a reunion with the two lummerland locomotive drivers in summer: from June 10 to July 11, 2026, Jim and Lukas will set off on a second adventure ride in "Jim Button and the Wild 13" at the Düsseldorf Marionette Theater.
