With his "German Requiem", Johannes Brahms treads an unusual path: unlike the traditional requiem mass, this work is not addressed to the deceased, but to the living. Consolation, hope and humanity take center stage. Brahms combines texts from the Old and New Testaments to create a deeply moving musical meditation on transience and confidence.

Since the premiere of the complete version in 1869, the "German Requiem" has been one of the most important and most frequently performed oratorios in music history. This concert features the impressive version for soloists, choir, two pianos and timpani in the arrangement by Heinrich Poos.

The Munich Concert Choir, Talia Or (soprano), Berend Stumphius (baritone), Rodolfo Focarelli and Lucas Huber Sierra (piano) and Simon Melzer (timpani) will perform for you under the overall direction of Óscar Payá Prats.
