John Francis Flynn has just released his second album, Look Over The Wall, See The Sky. The singer and multi-instrumentalist creates contemporary music using traditional and folk material. His debut album I Would Not Live Always (2020 River Lea Records) received rave reviews and won two awards at the RTE Folk Awards. Francis Flynn comes from the Irish folk scene and is a master at deconstructing traditional songs and rearranging them with emotional force. He infuses them with electronics, tape experiments, dub, post-punk and noise music to bring out the essence of Irish music. The unconventional use of instruments and jagged arrangements give the work an allure that draws listeners into the strange orbit of experimental folk.
