Told from the perspective of a present that would like to know more about its future, Jonas Lüscher's new novel tells the story of an Algerian soldier who is caught up in the first German poison gas attack. Meanwhile, in the future Cairo, a stand-up comedian watches an android laugh at her jokes. A Bohemian weaver, on the other hand, is replaced by an automated loom, steals a hammer and attacks the machine. Clever and insane, funny and sharp, the author poses the question of what we humans of capitalism and the machines that rise up against us dream of. Every story is possible and no conflict is over in this novel with its unique mirror space.

Jonas Lüscher (born 1976 in Schlieren) is a writer and essayist who now lives in Munich. He is a member of the PEN Center Germany and PEN Berlin. Lüscher has received several awards. His novel Kraft won the Swiss Book Prize in 2017.
