Three instruments, three musicians - and a sound that tells stories. The Joscho Stephan Trio takes up the tradition of swing à la Django Reinhardt and develops a modern, lively version of it.

The special signature of the trio is created by the virtuosity and musicality of Joscho Stephan, whose outstanding guitar playing combines technical skill with a fine sense of timbre. Together with Sven Jungbeck (guitar) and Volker Kamp (double bass), a dialog unfolds that is sometimes reminiscent of the elegance of the Parisian swing scene, sometimes of the energy of modern jazz clubs - and at the same time leaves room for original compositions that incorporate influences from Latin, classical, pop and rock. An interplay that is characterized by lightness and chamber music depth.

Productions such as Paris - Berlin, recorded in the legendary Hansa Studios, as well as several live albums document this special energy. International guest appearances, including in Australia and the USA, as well as festival appearances - from the Leverkusen Jazz Days to the Rheingau Music Festival - show the great response the trio has received.
