Beelzebub Irrwitzer, an evil wizard, must commit a major misdeed by midnight to avoid having his property seized by the hellish bailiff—otherwise, he himself faces hell. But he’s out of luck: Maurizio, a spy and a cat from the High Council of Animals, has sneaked into his villa, Nightmare. Suddenly, his arch-enemy, the money witch Tyrannja Vamperl, shows up as well. She, too, is under pressure to meet her crime quota and has unwittingly taken in a spy, the raven Jakob. To save themselves, the two black magicians must reluctantly work together to brew the legendary Wish Punch—a potion that turns good wishes into their opposites. But their selfishness and greed prevent them from working together effectively. At the same time, the rival animals Maurizio and Jakob join forces to reverse the potion’s effect and save the world. An exciting race against time begins—the outcome won’t be decided until the last chime of the year.
