Jim Hawkins, son of the owner of the 'Admiral Benbow' inn, comes across a treasure map leading to the island where the infamous Captain Flint has buried his treasure through a chain of hair-raising circumstances.

Together with his fatherly friend, the physician Doctor Livesey, and the lord of the manor John Trelawney, he decides to undertake an expedition to Treasure Island on the ship 'Hispaniola'. However, the very talkative Trelawney proves to be a little too talkative beforehand, which leads to some of Captain Flint's former crew members getting wind of the expedition's destination and mingling with the crew. First and foremost, they hire the charming but deceitful ship's cook Long John Silver, a real villain. Hidden in an apple barrel, Jim overhears the conspirators planning a mutiny to win the treasure for themselves.
