Jubiläumsfest – 100 Jahre am heutigen Standort

In the organizer's words:

July 12, 2026, marks the 100th anniversary of the day the Museum Fünf Kontinente moved into its current home. What once began in the gallery building in the Hofgarten found its permanent home in 1926 in the prestigious building on Maximilianstraße and has been an integral part of Munich’s museum landscape ever since.

We’d like to celebrate this special anniversary with you: with a big, colorful festival for everyone. Whether you’re a longtime friend of the museum, a curious first-time visitor, or a loyal regular from the neighborhood—we look forward to seeing you there.

Among other things, you can look forward to live music in the permanent exhibitions, a poetry slam in the newly designed disKursraum, street art by Fio Silva and Sake ink., an impressive trash-mask performance with Eddy Ekete, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum hosted by Susanne Hermanski. For our young visitors, we’re also offering creative workshops with Kunstlabor 2.

The museum garden also invites you to linger: It’s opening its doors especially for this day and offers the chance to relax with drinks and light bites from Café Vista and a food truck from La Cometa.

Come by, bring your family and friends—and celebrate a century of the Museum Fünf Kontinente on Maximilianstraße with us.

Free admission.
