Judith Döker spent many years in the limelight as an actress. She became known as the lead actress in the Sat.1 comedy series "Weibsbilder", and later appeared in formats such as "Schillerstrasse","Tatort" and many other productions.

In 2012, she made a radical decision: she left her previous life behind and moved to the Indian metropolis of Mumbai. She wrote the Spiegel bestseller "Judith goes to Bollywood" (btb) about her first two years on the subcontinent. Her journey then takes her to countries that most people only know from the news - to Pakistan, Iran, refugee camps in Lebanon and even to Syria during the war, against the express warning of the German police, who sought her out in her Berlin apartment.
