In Ich möchte zurückgehen in der Zeit , Judith Hermann follows in the footsteps of her grandfather, who was stationed for the SS in Radom, Poland, during the Second World War. She links her writing with his long denied history, travels from Poland to her sister in Naples and explores the memories and forgetting of the following generations. Judith Hermann traces the repressed, the voids in our society in intermediate tones and undertones. She also tells of how fragile we are in our lives - and also shows what beauty can be hidden in them.

Judith Hermann, born in Berlin in 1970, lives and writes in Berlin. Her debut Sommerhaus, später (1998) was extremely well received. Judith Hermann has been honored for her work with the Kleist Prize and the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize, among others. Most recently, 2023 Wir hätten uns alles gesagt, based on her Frankfurt Poetry Lectures, which Judith Hermann held in spring 2022, was published. She received the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize for it
