Junge Szene: Carlotta Armbruster Trio

Between composition, improvisation and interaction, the trio led by trombonist Carlotta Armbruster with bassist Nico Klöffer and drummer Jakob Görris explores the possibilities of the trio line-up in a new way. Carlotta's compositions form the starting point for music-making that relies above all on the inspiration and creativity of the musicians. In a communicative process of acting and reacting, highly exciting tonal and rhythmic structures are created that go beyond convention. Bass and drums emancipate themselves from their serving function and become equal partners within collective improvisations.
Carlotta is currently studying at the HfMT Cologne, where she also met Nico and Jakob. She is an integral part of the Cologne jazz scene and plays trombone in her own and other musically diverse projects throughout Germany. She was a member of the Bundesjazzorchester and played concerts with Pablo Held, Will Vinson, the WDR Bigband and at the Cologne Jazzweek, among others. In 2022, she won the national "Jugend jazzt" competition as a duo and was a prizewinner at the Biberacher Jazzpreis.
