Just over the hill and far away – class swap 2026

The exhibition format "class swap - out now" has been promoting exchanges between art students in German-speaking countries since 2024. In collaboration with Galerie Mitte, cooperations are created between the University of the Arts Bremen and partner institutions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland that combine artistic practice and institutional experience.

This year's group exhibition brings together eight female students from the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen and the University of the Arts Bremen. The focus is on the question of the visibility of female* experiences between body, memories, pain and experience. What forms of expression can cohesion and resistance take when they originate in intimate injury? The works create a shared space in which personal and collective perspectives can be experienced. Feminist theories, archives and individual stories serve as a starting point for an open, process-oriented exchange.

"class swap - out now" sees itself as a platform for networking, collaboration and the joint testing of artistic and discursive forms - beyond one's own academic context.
