Director: Bi Gan
113 min. original version with English and Chinese subtitles.
In the city of Kaili, former convict Chen Sheng works as a doctor and poet. He previously served nine years in prison after committing a revenge murder out of gratitude for an old friend. When his half-brother Lao Wai neglects his own son Weiwei and the boy disappears to Zhenyuan, Chen sets out to find him. At the same time, an older colleague asks him to take mementos to her terminally ill childhood sweetheart in Zhenyuan. On the way there, Chen ends up in the mysterious village of Dangmai, where past, present and future intermingle. He finally reaches Zhenyuan, observes Weiwei from afar and hands over the mementos to the son of his deceased childhood sweetheart.
