KantTheaterBerlin: Jeder stirbt für sich allein von Hans Fallada
In the organizer's words:
The inspiration for this novel by Hans Fallada was the working-class couple Otto and Anna Hampel, who were executed on April 8, 1943, in Berlin-Plötzensee for their defiance of the Nazi regime’s contempt for human life. In an atmosphere reminiscent of a crime novel, Fallada tells the story of so-called “ordinary people” who, between 1940 and 1942, spread calls for resistance on postcards and in letters after the death of their son at the front caused them to completely lose their initially positive attitude toward Hitler and his war machine.
Written and performed by Anette Daugardt and Uwe Neumann
Since 2003, the KantTheaterBerlin has been staging contemporary works and classics in its own modernized adaptations in an intimate theater setting.
