Keramische Insekten
In the organizer's words:
The Berlin-based artist Ross de Wayne Campbell could also be nicknamed “Lord of the Flies” or, better yet, “Lord of the Insects.” He has mastered the art of creating and assembling ceramic insects from countless delicate segments like no one else. In this intensive workshop, he’ll show you how to use clay and thin stainless steel wire to shape small, delicate ceramic components and integrate them into a larger three-dimensional form. Each participant will first model their own unique insect of choice—be it a stag beetle, dragonfly, or butterfly—from which multiple silicone molds will then be made. These molds can be used to produce additional copies of the prototype, which can be individually decorated. Before firing, the assembled insects can be colorfully engobed and decorated. The glazing technique, developed specifically by Ross de Wayne Campbell, gives the impression that the insects were fired using the RAKU method. At the end of the course, each participant takes home at least one perfect, finished insect measuring about 20 cm, along with the silicone molds they made themselves.
