Full risk, courage to go to extremes - this not only describes Anja Bihlmaier's conducting style, but also the program with which she continues her three-year concert series at the Beethovenfest. Tchaikovsky's homage to Mozart with a wonderfully gallant solo cello meets Zimmermann's absurd persiflage, Wilson's modernist evocation of a West African god of thunder and Shostakovich's unashamedly sarcastic Ninth, with which he riskily positioned himself against Stalin.
